     Autumn Blog 2015 - 2016

In our first half term we looked at different kinds of minibeasts. We researched where we might find them, created bug homes and talked about their different features. We also used our creative skills to make a range of different minibeasts for our classroom displays.

The children in Elephant Class decided each week what minibeasts they would like to learn about and then at the end of the topic they decided they would like to have a minibeast party. They suggested that we have a dressing up day and bake cakes and make masks.

We also released our butterflies that had hatched from their cocoons into the garden.

 SPRING BLOG

This Spring we are looking at our wonderful world that surrounds us. The children have selected this topic themselves through a class discussion and therefore are leading their learning each week. We will start by looking at outer-space and the planets while discussing Tim Peake and the latest news in scientific discoveries. We will then talk about our communities and compare ours to those of others around the world, discussing traditional food and lifestyles of people in other cultures. The children will discuss which countries around the world (or places closer to home) that they have visited and those they would like to know more about.

In Maths we have been recording our calculations starting with adding two numbers together   outdoor den making jan 2016 1
