On Thursday 3rd March we celebrated World Book Day. We had great fun dressing up as some of our favourite book characters such as: Percy Jackson, Gruffalo, Elsa, Hermione, Harry Potter and the Worst Witch. We started the morning off by inviting our parents in to read books to us. Then all the classes split up to illustrate parts of the book they were given. Elephant class illustrated the well-known book The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson; Wolf Pack illustrated The Magic Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton; Lion Pride illustrated Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl and Alligator Congregation illustrated Alfie Bloom by Gabrielle Kent. We had a great day and really enjoyed all the activities and we can’t wait until next year!!!

World Book Day

This week, the juniors have been crossing their fingers, as we held the finals of our annual Speech Competition. During this half term, everybody has delivered their speech and their respective teacher elected 6 to 8 semi- finalist’s from each class. These people then spoke again and with that they were narrowed down into 5 finalists: Jacob (Year 3) speaking about his collection of bugs; William (Year 4) speaking about how to care for a pet rabbit; Robert (Year 5) who talked about his passion for cricket; James (Year 6) who demonstrated the complexities of origami and Georgi (Year 6) who spoke about the role of young carers. They all were fantastic and had researched a lot about their subjects. Mrs Crabbe (St Andrew’s Church)and Mrs Bowes (one of our Governors) were the judges for our finals. They had a very difficult job but eventually declared Robert as this year’s winner. Well done Robert!
